Here we have two galleries of photos of a little Short Eared Owl. In the 1st gallery we have the Owl and a female Northern Harrier that ignored each other despite that fact that both birds of prey basically target the same food sources. A considerable accomplishment i think and admirable also.
In the 2nd gallery we have a series of shots where the Harrier has moved on and our little Owl is now being rousted by a belligerent American Crow. The crow not only forces the Owl off the hunting field, it continues to drive it over the length of a 2nd field.
There are not many Short Eared Owls locally so i was delighted with what is for me a rare sighting ......cheers...dave.
