Here are 16 shots of a very pleasant surprise i got on a sunny day in the dead of winter. Not only was the day a marvelous lift to the spirits but was noteworthy in my estimation as the very same adult female Prairie Merlin paid me a return visit and believe it or not....landed and perched for a second photo session in the very same 60' Cherry tree at the end of my lane. I was delighted to see that this beautiful bird was unafraid of my approach and tolerated my standing at the base of the tree on which she perched. All together a red letter day.
